My Mo'Rocking Birthday!

Hello Everyone!
How are you? I am fine...just trucking along looking forward to starting summer. This has been a good month! I got the grant I applied for! YAY! And later this week my students and I are headed to the Women's 10k run in Casablanca! I am really excited...just hope I dont die from the jogging! lol. Also this month I celebrated my 23rd Birthday (old!) I had 2 parties...both of which were a blast! On my actual birthday I had a pizza party at my house...ps watch out dominos cause when I get back to the states my gourmet pizza is going to blow everyones mind. Then the following saturday I had a get together at Floyds house cause it is much easier for some of my friends to travel to there. We had a good time complete with cards, french onion dip and homemade 'dirt cups'. If you havent already noticed good food is something to get excited about around here. All in all it was a better birthday than I had expected. :)

I have been unusually homesick lately. I know it is normal and I will get through it but its a weird emotion because I really am happy here. I mean I have my days but for the most part I am happy. So to feel this urge of wanting to go home so badlyAND being so content all at the same time can be very confusing. I guess I am just lucky that I have such amazing people to miss and dont get any ideas I am still going strong for now.

In other news...funny cross cultural story. I was walking to the Dar Talib with my friend Loubna and for some reason the harrassment was extra bad this day but I dont let it get to me. One man told me 'he wanted to make kids with me 'and Loubna got in a screaming match with him in the street (lol good friend), then we walked a little further and i got a 'You are beautiful Blondie" and finally when we turned down the proper street I got a 'Why wont you talk to me white?' Once we arrived to the Dar Talib I was annoyed and tired so I taught my class and Loubna taught hers and then we headed home. As we were walking home someone came from behind me and grabbed my butt. Without thinking I was so disgusted and caught off guard that I turned around and proceeded to beat the crap out of the jerks arm. Much to my surprise it was a little old lady trying to tell me that I had chalk on my black pants!!! Embarrasement flooded over me and I apologized 400 times in arabic. Ofcourse while I was apologizing I was laughing so hard tears were strolling down my face. She took it pretty well especially considering I told her I thought she was a man...which could have been interpruted the wrong way lol. Anyway, I guess thats the sort of occupational hazards we have around here...next time Ill be sure to check the sex of the person I beat up lol.
So I have a huge request...as it turns out my laptop is on its last leg :( I could survive without one but my ability to work and communicate home would be very limited because I cannot go to the cyber at night. So...if by chance you have a good connection or you have an old laptop sitting in a dusty closet somewhere will you please email me? kristin.quigley@gmail.com I would be forever grateful and since my friend is visiting in july it would not be hard to transport. Thank you in advance and if you no one can help out I understand :)
I miss you guys too much! The current events of the world sometimes make me question wether I should be here or at home spending time with the people I love the most...but then I snap back into reality and remember that this is where God wants me right now. Please keep the people of Burma in your thoughts and prayers...I cant even imagine what they are going through! I love you all sooo much and I hope you enjoy my pictures!
Pics: Some from my birthday party at home, lunch with my 2nd family (Loubnas family) Aya is the little girl and I love her to pieces! Finally, pictures from my birthday party at Floyds.
Peace and Love,
Kris
