Hello everyone!
How are you? Great I hope! Things here a still trucking along. February was a busy pleasent month and I cant believe how fast it went. Work has been good and I feel like my arabic is getting a bit better. This month I traveled alot which was nice. Some of the pictures below are from a town name Fugig, about an hour and a half away from me. My boyfriend and I went there for valentines day and hiked, biked and had dinner with the married PC couple that lives there. It was a great time. The town has beautiful palmeries all over the place, the weather wasnt on our side so I cant wait to see what it looks like on a beautiful sunny day. The other pictures are of a basketball game we had at my womens center. The gals BEGGED me to play and so finally I had to give in. I know almost nothing about basketball but I went for it anyway. After about 10mins someone finally passed me the ball and I went for a basket. I was kinda nervous but everyone started cheering so I went for it...I thought they were being really supportive and then after I missed the shot I realized that they werent cheering me on but instead yelling at me cause I was shooting into the opposing teams basket lol. Like half my town was there so it was kinda embarrassing but I got over it. 2 days later they played again and I got all ready to go and one of the girls goes 'dont worry kristin we have enough players, you can just stick to aerobics' lol...Im not the crushed, more than anything relieved that I wont have to play anymore and finally in my defense...how was I supposed to know which basket is which? Lol.
Then there are some pics of my students at the orphange. Which brings me to my next story. If you see the pic of my classroom full of students that is my weekly game of bingo. These kids ABSOLUTLEY love bingo so we usually play on friday nights. That week about 50 kids crammed into the class to play. Before we started I told them that the prize for winning a round would be the 'fun dip' candy my sister sent from America. Needless to say they were quite excited! So we start playing and at about round 3 a girl calls bingo after I called only 8 numbers. So while I got to verify that she has it, another girl starts arguing that she cheated and that I didnt call enough numbers etc. Well one thing leads to another and before I know it, the 'accused cheater' jumps over 4 desks and lunges at the other girl to defend her rightfully earned fun dip! All the kids start cheering and I swear I froze and became useless, infact I remember saying in english as if they could understand me "Im not a real teacher I dont know what to do" lol so anyway I run to get the director of the orphange while some of the older boys pry the two girls off of each other. Both the girls were taken into the office to be repremended so I walk into the office and both of the crying girls are telling the director that they are actually friends and that they were only fighting cause of bingo. lol...so i apologize and thankfully the director said he was sure it wasnt my fault etc but when I walk out of the office the other 48 kids are all standing there waiting to hear the fate of the girls, as soon as we walked out they all broke out into the 5th grade 'ohhhhhhhh' finally I got on my bike and started riding home...at this point i was stressed, frustrated and pissed. About 2 minutes into my ride I burst out laughing so hard I had to pull over. Honest to god if someone told me months ago that I would move to Morocco and start a cat fight over fun dip and bingo....lol never a dull day here! Lastly there is a picture of my new cat! Her name is duchess emily! Shes only 4 weeks old so she has put a stop to my normal life but its nice to have someone to come home to :)
This past weekend was probably one of my favorite times in Morocco so far. Floyds sister and brother in law came here to visit from America so I went to a tourist spot with them. Its this town called Merzouga and we rode camels into the middle of the Sahara Desert and then watched the sunset, at dinner, laid in the sand staring at the stars for hours and then slept in tents. We woke up the next morning watched the sunrise and then rode the camels back into town. It was AMAZINNNGGGG but I will keep this story short till I get the pictures from Floyds sister. Hopefully next week I can post them.
Other than that not too much is new, I have a busy month with womens day, a theater competition and spring camp. I will keep you all posted! Happy birthday dennis!
I love and miss you all! Ps thank you Aunt vera, Amy and Ken, and Kelly for the packages I got this month....they were all amazing!
XOXO
